The Swiss Smart Factory offers:

Lighthouse project industry 4.0
The Lighthouse Project Industry 4.0 is a complete production ecosystem that demonstrates sustainable, human-centered, and resilient manufacturing. It showcases a realistic, lot-size-one manufacturing scenario using customized drones as an example.
In addition to addressing the challenges of the Swiss manufacturing industry, the Lighthouse Project serves as an international test bench for seamless sharing of data and interconnected manufacturing in various Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and research projects.
It addresses the challenges of the Swiss manufacturing industry by grouping all technology solutions into five technological building blocks:
- Seamless Production-IT
- Flexible Automation
- Smart Logistics
- Augmented Workforce
- Sustainable, Circular Manufacturing
Digital Lean Production 4.0 Lab
The Digital Lean Production 4.0 Lab imparts valuable skills for the workplace of the future and provides participants with the opportunity to explore, compare and discuss traditional production processes against digitally enabled production processes. It offers hands-on experience in technology-based process optimization, which is essential for the design and operation of modern manufacturing workplaces.
The Digital Lean Production 4.0 Lab is a “learning factory” that makes digital technologies tangible and provides hands-on training. The setup mimics a realistic shopfloor environment that includes advanced technologies such as integrated MES, RFID-based tracking and tracing and digital assembly instructions. It allows participants to take over various roles on the shopfloor such as shopfloor manager, assembly operator or logistician.

SSF-Solution Center
The SSF-Solution Center is an open collaboration booth located in the heart of the Swiss Smart Factory. It is a flexible space that can be booked by SSF members for meetings with their partners and clients. The center is designed to provide a convenient and engaging environment for networking and marketing activities, right in the center of the SSF facilities, next to the train station in Biel/Bienne.
The SSF-Solution Center is available upon-request for almost 365 days a year, making it an ideal location for members to meet with clients and partners at any time and to demonstrate and discuss future manufacturing solutions.
Swiss Cobotics Competence Center (S3C)
The Swiss Cobotics Competence Center (S3C) represents the national hub for industrial and academic partners to jointly develop and test the next generation of cobotic solutions and to learn how to design and integrate cobotic solutions under human-centric aspects. The S3C operates more than 8 different reconfigurable cobotic setups that address specific manufacturing sector needs.
The Swiss Smart Factory is one of the four founding members of the Swiss Cobotic Competence Center. Swiss Smart Factory members benefit from preferred conditions to join the S3C network.
