Lighthouse project "industry 4.0"

The Lighthouse Project is a complete production ecosystem that demonstrates sustainable, human-centered, and resilient manufacturing. It showcases a realistic, lot-size-one manufacturing scenario using customized drones as an example.

In addition to addressing the challenges of the Swiss manufacturing industry, the Lighthouse Project serves as an international test bench for seamless sharing of data and interconnected manufacturing in various Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and research projects.

It addresses the challenges of the Swiss manufacturing industry by grouping all technology solutions into five technological building blocks:

Digital Lean Production Lab

The Digital Lean Production Lab is a hands-on learning environment where participants explore how digital technologies can make production processes leaner, more transparent and more efficient.

In a realistic shopfloor setting, participants compare traditional production processes with digitally enabled workflows using technologies such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), RFID-based tracking and tracing and digital assembly instructions. By taking on different shopfloor roles, they experience how digital tools support process optimization, information flow and operational decision-making.

The Digital Lean Workshop combines these practical exercises with an introduction to key Industry 4.0 technologies, helping participants assess the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in manufacturing.

SSF Meeting & Event Space

Located within the 1,000 m² Swiss Smart Factory hall, the SSF offers a unique setting surrounded by industrial labs and the Lighthouse Project Industry 4.0 production line.

Member Meeting Space

SSF members can use the mezzanine meeting area free of charge for meetings with customers and partners. It accommodates up to eight people and includes a Samsung Flip display. Customer visits and technology demonstrations can also be organised upon request.

Events at SSF

The SSF hall can host company events, workshops, exhibitions and industry gatherings for up to 300 participants. A stage, sound system and projector are available, while alternative or customised setups can also be arranged.

SSF members benefit from one free half-day venue rental per year. Additional equipment and services are not included.

Swiss Cobotics Competence Center (S3C)

The S3C connects companies, technology providers and research partners working on collaborative robotics, humanoids and industrial Physical AI.

Through its network, demonstrators and events, the S3C supports the exploration, testing and industrial application of advanced robotics technologies.

As an SSF member, you can choose one year of S3C membership as your annual membership benefit and gain access to its network, activities and demonstrators.
